Judges
Leaving Early on Sunday
When accepting a job:
If you have concerns about returning home, be sure and find out how
far from the show grounds are from the airport and what the earliest time
is you will be able to book a return flight.
When show will be
over....How long it will take to get to Airport
Should you plan to stay overnight on Sunday night
for an early morning flight
If you MUST leave on Sunday, be sure you advise
management when making the contract.
Judges Fees for Sunday:
Don't be surprised if you start receiving contracts that specify that you
work for
8 hours on Sunday to receive your full day fee. Some Show
Managements might be able to replace you with a local judge, but it would
not be fair to expect your full fee.

Checklist for
Travel Arrangements:
Make yourself a checklist for each show to be
sure you get timely airfares, contact information as to where you
will be staying, who will pick you up and cell phone contacts for your
pick up person and the show manager in case you have travel problems. |

Judges
- Answer your email or call back
Show Managements are asking that you be sure and reply to a message by
email or telephone asking if you are available to judge. If you
can't do it, please contact them and let them know so they can go on to
the next judge on their list.

PER DIEM, Cost of
Meals:
Due to abuse in the long distant past, show management often prefers to
offer a per diem charge to cover meals. This is usually up to
$30.-$40. per day and is specified in your contract.
Some judges are abusing this
reimbursement. If the show buys your breakfast and lunch on the show
grounds and/or takes you out to dinner, you should not expect a per
diem and should instead keep track of receipts. |

|
CONTRACT Cancellations:
Judges and Show management should be sure to include a cancellation clause
in their contract.
In today's economy, show managers can't be
sure of the number of entries and are sometimes
surprised.
Options for resolution:
1) Judge uses pre-paid ticket for another
show, and show reimburses the judge
for the change fee.
(Please note that some airlines require that the new ticket must
be
purchased BEFORE the actual date of the cancelled
flight).
2) The judge is given a percentage of a day
fee, or one days fee, or an agreement
to rebook for the following
year.
